Andrew Pidgeon
Joining Beeston Players at the beginning of 2016, I stage managed my first play, “Caught in the Net”, and at the time of writing, am rehearsing for my first part in “Disposing of the Body”.
Before joining, I took an interest in acting and the background of what might occur behind the scenes of TV programmes and films. Long term member Larraine Maddison encouraged me to come along to one of the sessions, and everyone welcomed me and allowed me the opportunity to get stuck in and have an input in plays from the start, as well as regular social events. It has given me the chance to broaden my horizons, throwing myself into something I thought I’d dread, and also meeting loads of new people, within a caring, close knit group.
As well as my decision to join Beeston Players, I’ve also joined an 11 aside football team, and ended a long career in retail to go back to education at Nottingham Trent University studying Construction Management, which, along with my involvement with Beeston Players, supplies me with a very busy but fulfilling lifestyle. I’m looking forward to performing on stage for the first time in the near future and experiencing the adrenaline rush of performing in front of a live audience, which I never thought I’d have the courage to do!
I’d recommend Beeston players as a great opportunity for anyone in the position I was in, and I can’t thank them enough for giving me the opportunity to get so involved.
